When I was a kid, I used to watch snake documentaries. I couldn't get enough of them, just picture a 10-year-old girl taking notes about random snake facts. That was my snake phase. I was so obsessed with them that I wanted a pet snake so bad, and I begged my mom to buy me one. She never did, which was probably the most reasonable choice.

My mom wasn't so thrilled about the idea of having a snake living in a tank in my bedroom. Maybe she was right, but I found snakes very fascinating, and if they scared me, that made them even more interesting. They looked exotic and mysterious, just dangerous enough to keep me captivated and make me want them more. Now that's something worthy of a therapy session, but we'll need another post for that conversation.
